Asset Data Validation

Capturing critical data at the right time in the implementation or migration process will significantly reduce the costs of collecting and maintaining accurate data. Many clients have incomplete or obsolete asset data in their EAM systems. This could be in the form of assets in the system that are no longer installed at their site, or assets that have been installed and/or replaced but not updated in the the system. These types of data inconsistencies add to compliance risk and work inefficiencies.

Achieving successful results with EAM implementation projects depends heavily upon rich, accurate asset data. This is especially challenging in regulated industries where new products, new construction, acquisitions and mergers, and process improvements cause a high frequency of business change, particularly in GxP, validated environments. EDI’s Asset Data Validation services assist our clients with the collection, maintenance and audit of asset data which is critical to get the most out of your assets.

Planning and Preparation

EDI will work with you to develop validated processes for the collection and migration of data into your EAM system creating a “Data Quality Improvement Program” to develop and enforce standards for your organization. Next we will help choose the right tool sets to help transform the business culture and improve the process of collecting and maintaining data.

Data Collection

EDI employs our well defined approach in completing physical walk-downs and asset data collection processes which has been developed from extensive experience at BioTech and other Life Sciences firms where GxP compliance is critical. EDI has developed a highly efficient, repeatable process where two-person teams of Asset Management Specialists equipped with lights, dentists mirrors, ladders, screwdrivers, configured software tools, P & IDs, floor plan survey, etc. accurately read, call, and record the data. Asset labeling and the development of Calibration data sheets are completed as needed.

EDI’s Asset Management Specialists are intimately knowledgeable of Maximo’s equipment and location hierarchy structures and are also experienced with many different implementation models. The Asset Management Specialists will pre-load data collection tools with the basic asset hierarchy structure and value lists. They will also create as a part of the data collection process appropriate position records in the location and equipment hierarchies. All of these activities help to ensure that the data is collected and loaded into Maximo correctly.

EDI also performs data health checks by performing additional walk-downs if necessary using statistical QC methods. Finally, EDI’s Asset Management Specialists will work with the Client during their review process right before the data is loaded into the new repository.
