Asset Configuration and Management in Maximo 6 for IT

Course Description

Asset Configuration and Management in Maximo 6 (for IT) is designed to teach IT asset managers how to use Maximo 6 to effectively set up and manage IT assets. It provides comprehensive instruction in all of the Maximo 6 functions related to IT asset management. Students will gain knowledge in using Maximo 6 to manage all phases of the IT asset lifecycle, including planning, acquisition, deployment, and retirement.

Who Will Benefit From This Course

This course is intended for IT asset managers. The goal of the course is to develop competency in using IBM Maximo to plan for, acquire, deploy, and retire IT assets.

Prerequisites

You should complete:

  • Navigation and Querying in IBM Maximo 6 or have experience working with IBM Maximo 5.x or higher.

Skills Taught

After completing this course, you should be able to:

  • Plan for and set up IT assets
  • Create IT item masters and records
  • Apply standard configurations (item assembly structures)
  • Manage vendors and contracts
  • Create/update/delete purchase, lease, warranty, and software contracts
  • Set up and use terms and conditions
  • Create requisitions for assets using the Desktop Requisitions and Purchase Requisitions applications
  • Create requests for quotations (RFQs)
  • Create RFQs from purchase requests
  • Create contracts from RFQs
  • Receive IT assets and deploy them to a user
  • Manage IMACs, including moves, mass moves, and swaps
  • Maintain software license compliance using the Discovery and Reconciliation applications
  • Use KPIs and reports to monitor IT asset costs and usage
  • Retire an IT asset
  • Manage a lease expiration
