HPA Completes Maximo Upgrade
EDI is pleased to announce that the Health Protection Agency in the United Kingdom has gone live this week with their Maximo Upgrade. The Health Protection Agency is loosely equivalent to the Center for Disease Control here in the U.S. They use Maximo for all HPA plant maintenance and calibration activities for the entire campus in Porton, England. The HPA has developed and tested a drug for children's Leukemia called Erwinase and has partnered with a European biopharmaceutical company for world-wide marketing rights. Please visit www.hpa.org.uk for more details!
Roger Hinton, Managing Director of the Agency, made this comment upon learning of the successful deployment, "Brilliant news and a fantastic effort by all involved."
The EDI project at HPA began with a Blueprinting process for the entire HPA project that flushed out the maintenance and compliance best practices and benchmarks around their functional business processes. Following the Blueprinting process EDI began the complete implementation of Maximo 6 producing a validated EAM system to support GxP Maintenance Operations. The system will be used as the source for and management of all Asset and Maintenance related data and processes. A validated EAM system is the most cost-effective way to enhance the organization's compliance position. The specific compliance drivers for the implementation of this system include:
- Demonstration of FDA Compliance to 21 CFR Parts 11, 210, and 211
- Single Source for Asset Records and Specifications
- Electronic Job Plan Creation and Revision Control
- Electronic Signature (E-sig) Enabled Dynamic Work Flows for Work Approval/Execution
- GxP Criticality Driven Workflows to Enable a Risk-Based Approach to Compliance in Maintenance Processes
- Calibration Data Storage, Traceability and Corrective Actions
- Spare Parts Assessment Based on GxP Criticality and/or Product Contact
